Activities & Objectives

CLZ’s constitution includes the following objectives:

  • To promote, foster and maintain interest in the protection of wildlife

  • To encourage recognition of the importance of safeguarding habitat and wildlife for its cultural, scientific and economic value.

  • To promote and support the improvement of any existing National parks and wildlife protection areas, and sponsor the establishment of any such areas.

  • To assist in all efforts to safeguard the security and permanence of the National Park and to promote its reasonable and proper development and maintenance as a National asset for the benefit of all people.

These objectives will be achieved through the accomplishment of the following five inputs:

  • Supporting the Government of Zambia or any of its departments in their efforts towards natural resource conservation.

  • Assisting the LZNP Warden in the development, protection and maintenance of the natural resource base in CLZ target areas.

  • Assisting GMA communities to mobilize into legally recognized bodies that are capable of managing their natural resources.

  • Increasing community awareness and knowledge of natural resource management opportunities and benefits by implementing an educational programme.

  • Supporting non-govern-mental organizations and individuals whose work furthers the goals of CLZ to protect the habitat and wildlife in the Lower Zambezi Valley.

  • It is the strategy of CLZ to support organizations and individuals in their efforts towards the above goals by providing technical assistance, training, equipment and supplies.
